Photos February 17- March 7

February 17
(On this day, I became a Parisian and bought a scarf otherwise known as The Staple of French fashion)

February 24

(A little day trip to Versailles! Only 30 min from Paris!)

(Graced, after a few stormy days, with some well-deserved sunshine!)

(At the time of its commission, this was the largest painting ever created)

(Every inch of the royal apartments were decorated in a display of grotesque wealth. It was hard to see knowing that while the monarchy was decking out Versailles in endless gold, the people they ruled over were starving in the streets)

(The famed Hall of Mirrors)

(It really is quite stunning--even if it was just another hallway to the royals)

(From the left: Sabina, Emily, myself, and Misa)

(The mirror selfie to end all mirror selfies)

(Even though the sun was out, walking around the gardens was brutally cold)

February 23

(Addie and I went to the Musee d'Art Moderne to see an exhibit from Hans Hartung, a German abstract artist)

(Addie contemplating the nature of abstractism--neither of us really get it)

(Floating Woman by Gaston Lachaise. 1924.)

(Temple of Beauty by Jules Pascin. 1925.)

 March 5
(Sabina and our mayonnaise eggs--a common appetizer in France)

March 6

(Marie's Malachite Room)

(The Temple of Love at Versailles)

(Versailles Farm)

(My friend Sarah and I searched the entirety of the Versailles estate looking for the guinea pigs that her friend had told her about (Sarah loves guinea pigs). It took almost all day but we finally found them.)

(Sarah and I!)

 March 7
(Addie's friend Matt--left--came to visit from Copenhagen so we had a little soiree, as the French would say)
